Maxwell Celebrates Graduates Today – 2019 Convocation Ceremony

SU Maxwell School’s Convocation TODAY
Today we celebrate our graduates at the Maxwell School, Syracuse University. Anyone who has ever worked at a university enjoys graduation! This is why we are here.. to engage, enlighten, teach and watch our students reach their educational and career goals. Today, we share in their achievements and celebrate their success! Congratulations, Maxwell Graduates!
The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University Convocation Ceremony will take place in Hendrick’s Chapel at 10 am. Deans David Van Slyke and Carol Faulkner will preside over the ceremony.
Sybelle Rodriguez Del Valle (MPA/MA IR) will lead the processional.
Raissa Figueirado (Executive EMPA) will give the student address.
Master and PhD candidates from all of Maxwell’s disciplines will be recognized: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Social Sciences and Sociology. Thirty-two PhD graduates will recognized across all the social sciences!
Associate Dean, Carol Faulkner will present the 2019 Daniel Patrick Moynihan Award for

Guido Pezzarossi receives the Moynihan Award and will deliver the keynote speech today
Research and Teaching to this year’s recipient, Dr. Guido Pezzarossi from Anthropology. This award was established by the former Senator and Maxwell professor to recognize outstanding junior (non-tenured) faculty accomplishments in research and teaching. The faculty address will then be given by Assistant Professor Pezzarossi.
Dean Van Slyke will present the schools Leadership and Faculty Awards and preside over the reading of the Athenian Oath.

NOTE: The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs holds a separate Convocation Ceremony on the final Friday of June each year to honor our Master of Public Administration Graduates who still have another seven weeks of capstone coursework to complete.
