Hanna’s Bunkers in Baghdad Hits Milestone –

Joseph Hanna - current MPA student and Founder of Bunkers in Baghdad

Joseph Hanna – current MPA student and Founding President of Bunkers in Baghdad

Joe Hanna was already a recognized leader in the public sector before enrolling in Maxwell’s MPA program this past summer.  A practicing lawyer in the Buffalo area, Joe is focusing his studies in Non-Profit Management so he can better lead the non-profit organization, Bunkers in Baghdad, which he founded five years ago as it continues to grow and expand its reach.

Bunkers in Baghdad is a not-for-profit charity that collects and sends new and used golf balls, clubs and equipment to our troops in 26 countries around the world, with a focus on the brave men and women currently serving in combat zones. Bunkers also supplies golf equipment to Wounded Warriors Programs around the country to aid in the rehabilitation of our injured veterans.

Joe and his work with Bunkers was recently featured in the front page story in the Buffalo Law Journal, Bunkers in Baghdad hits milestone, by Matt Chandler.

Of his decision to return to school at this point in his career, Joe says “The Maxwell School’s Public Administration program, which happens to be rated the No. 1 school in the country in its discipline, has given me a much stronger knowledge base related to fundraising and the administrative aspect of running a nonprofit”.
