Funding Spotlight – Robertson Fellowships
The Robertson Foundation for Government (RFFG) is a nonprofit family foundation dedicated to helping government meet its talent needs by identifying, educating and motivating top U.S. graduate students to pursue federal government careers in foreign policy, national security and international affairs.
The Maxwell School partners with the RFFG to fund two full time students in a two year track of study leading to a professional career in the US Federal Government working on issues of importance in international affairs. Students admitted to PAIA’s two year joint programs: MPA/MA IR, MA IR /MA Economics and MPA/ MA Economics can be considered for the Robertson Fellowships.
Robertson Fellows receive: Full tuition for both years, living stipend of $20,000/yr plus health insurance, and Summer internship assistance. In turn, Robertson Fellows are required to work for the Federal Government for 3 of the first 5 years after graduation and must have proficiency in a foreign language upon graduation. To be considered for a Robertson Fellowship, applicants must submit an additional (250 word) statement outlining their academic and career goals and how these are aligned with the mission of the RFFG. This statement must also reaffirm the applicant’s commitment to a career in the federal government upon graduation. The deadline for submitting this additional statement is February 15th.
Prior Robertson Fellows have taken positions with the US Department of Treasury, US Department of State and the Innovative Agricultural Resource Initiative upon graduation.
