2014 MPA Graduate Employment Statistics

2014 MA IR Graduate Employment Statistics

The Maxwell Schools Center for Career Development just finalized the 2014 Employment Statistics for MPA and MA IR program graduates. This survey, revised to collect even more robust data, was first administered in April/May 2014 (even before most students finished their studies). The results show that a majority of our 2014 graduates secured their positions either before graduation or within 3 months.  These results continue to prove that our PA and IR programs, prepare our students well for the careers they desire.  And the really good news this year is the timeline.  After several years of a sluggish economy, we are pleased to see such high rates of employment early on.

We are also equally happy with the diversity of employment across the various sectors and across areas of functionality, further proving the versatility of our PA and IR degrees in preparing graduates for the careers they seek.

Recently a prospective student commented that they loved that Maxwell was not shy about our employment statistics. Not only do we make them readily available on line, but we also showcased the hiring of our graduates very proudly.  As an admissions director, I know that deciding to earn a professionally focused graduate degree is not always an easy decision. Taking on additional debt (which is a reality for the majority of our students) can indeed be daunting, especially in these times of global economic insecurity.  But, we are proud of our graduates’ professional success.  We know that this investment – of time, hard work and money, is well worth it.  Our annual statistics just continue to prove this point, year after year.

So, while there may be some costs to moving forward with your educational goals, please keep in mind that there is nothing more worthwhile than making an investment in yourself, developing the skills and knowledge you need, and being part of a strong public service focused community, so that you can move forward in a career – and life path – that will bring personal and professional fulfillment.  If you are currently considering our offer of admission for the 2015 entering classes – here is further proof of the potential result of that investment!
